BILLY BREMNER MEMORIAL JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN

Another key new appointment for the SFSA

Date: 13th February 2025

We’re delighted to introduce Telfer Gray as our new Lead on Grassroots Football.

Telfer joined the SFSA ‘Engine Room’ (our group of student volunteers)  during his Sport Management degree, where he conducted research on the economic lifecycle of Scottish football fans and also worked on our weekly mailer.  Having worked for a short time down south, he’s  now returned to Scotland and is keen to develop his skills further by taking a crucial lead role on grassroots football for the SFSA.

Telfer told us, “I believe grassroots is a vital component in our game, helping people make lifelong friendships and to keep fit. I would love to showcase the fantastic work that volunteers contribute to their communities and where possible help make the game accessible to all.

“From playing youth Sunday morning football in the “Zidane” league for Fernieside, Alva Swifts in the FVFDA and Lornshill Academy across the Forth Valley, I have developed a passion for the game and look forward to engaging with our membership base further.

“My first task is to interview Lee Robertson of Rothes Juniors 2012, the winner of the Grassroots Hero category in the SFSA’s annual Fans’ Awards.  Following that, amongst other things, I’ll be seeking out other grassroots heroes, interviewing them and help to showcase just how important youth football is in helping develop Scottish talent for our senior clubs and the national side.”

If you can think of anyone who is a Grassroots Hero, free to contact Telfer at telfer@scottishfsa.org
