With it looking increasingly likely that clubs could break away from the Juniors as we saw 2 years ago with the East of Scotland League, is it only a matter of time until we see clubs like Kilwinning Rangers, Darvel and Clydebank in the SPFL?
Earlier this week, the Lowland and East of Scotland Leagues released a statement claiming they had received contact from numerous clubs interested in forming a new West of Scotland League that would become part of the Scottish football pyramid.
SJFA clubs voted 2 years ago to join the pyramid system but with progress being slow and resistance from junior giants such as Auchinleck Talbot, a breakaway in time to form a new league by as early as next season is very much on the cards.
Clubs have now been given until the 31st of March to express their interest to join this new division.
We will keep you up to date as this story develops.
