Current Players joining the Scottish March of the Day

There are only three weeks left to the Scottish March of the Day, the 150 mile walk from Motherwell FC to Murrayfield via 20 other stadia. This has been a brilliant week in the build up to the event for a number of reasons.

  • Five current footballers have signed up to join the walk. These include Cammy Gill and Blair Lyons (Montrose FC), Ryan Flynn (Arbroath FC), Dean Lyness (Hamilton Accies FC) and Gary Mackay-Steven (Ross County FC)
  • All our core team now have sponsors and all our stages are sponsored. A brilliant variation on our two previous March of the Day events is the number of clubs who are involved as sponsors this year. These include Motherwell, Montrose, Aberdeen, Cove Rangers, Spartans, Cumbernauld United, Elgin City, Peterhead, Brechin City, Stirling Albion, Clyde and Ross County plus Bradford City, south of the border.
  • Three more clubs on the route are now preparing to welcome us along the route. These are Celtic, Stirling Albion and Dunfermline Athletic. This leaves only Albion Rovers of the clubs that we call at during the day time that we have still to make contact with.

This is starting to feel like Scottish Football really is standing tall with the MND Community. Close to 100 people will be involved with the walk in total including 16 current or former players. People are travelling for all across the UK to be involved. We have walkers from places like. Bristol, Ipswich, Liverpool, Cheltenham, Montrose and Leeds.

Over £13,000 has already been pledged for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation and the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation already. If you would like to donate in support of the MND Community, all support is hugely appreciated.
