Historical Sex abuse cases in football – a Scottish Perspective

We congratulate the SFA in quickly following the lead of the FA in England to open an investigation into this disturbing area of concern for the game. We know that that there have been cases in the past here in Scotland the most high profile being the sexual assaults that occurred at Celtic Boys club in the late 1970’s. We can only hope that the investigation is properly conducted and that there are no more cases in Scotland. Former Scotland star Alan Brazil who was sexually assaulted whilst on the books of Celtic Boys club all those years ago was shocked but not surprised by the recent revelations. Fortunately, the thorough checking that is now in place at our clubs and with the SFA should mean that these offences should be confined to the past.
