BILLY BREMNER MEMORIAL JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN

In a Season Full of Dreams, Stenhousemuir FC are Aiming for the Stars

Date: 3rd April 2025

This is the first of the four runners-up in our competition for students studying any sports-related degree in Scotland, held in association with News UK, who have kindly agreed to provide a prize for the winner. Our judges loved this article because of its writer’s evident passion for her club, which is not one of the giants of Scottish football, and the way in which she celebrates their current success and looks ambitiously forward to even more better times in the future…

2024 was a special year for the Warriors when, following promotion to League 1, they lifted a trophy for the first time in 140 years. And with back-to-back promotions now tantalisingly close, anything could happen for this small, but mighty community club!

Stenhousemuir FC kicked off their new campaign with a flag day that had Ochilview Park bouncing, and that feeling only heightened after they knocked two goals past newly relegated side Arbroath in a fairytale start to their season.

The valiant Warriors took great confidence from this game, though they had to battle to find their feet in the League after a few defeats. They fought on and quickly asserted their position in the table as a side that were not to be easily written off, churning out impressive result after result.

A club that has endeavoured to be a pillar of the community, was running like a well-oiled machine and giving their loyal supporters plenty to chant about, soon found themselves in contention at the top of the table. Fast forward to the present day and the Warriors are running neck and neck with Arbroath in the race for the League 1 title. They are showing no signs of letting up, striding most recently to a comprehensive victory over Dumbarton in March. To the doubters, make no mistake, this is a team full of confidence and ability and a team that is hungry for more.

And more they could have, given that they have already recorded their highest points tally in League 1, amassing a total of 44 points so far. The Warriors have not only been hitting targets in the League table, their form in front of goal speaks for itself, netting 39 goals and on course for their best scoring season in this league. One Warrior who is battling hard for Stenhousemuir is striker Corey O’Donnell. As well as bagging a first professional hat-trick this season, the clinical front man is now in contention to be the League’s top scorer. With nine goals this season, he will certainly be eyeing up his target, needing possibly just a few more goals to take him over that line.

With the league table closer than ever and aspirations bolder than before, Stenhousemuir still have a title chase at their feet. The club will be hoping to raise that League 1 Championship flag high above their park for the first time in their history. With more than two months left of League football, the Warriors will dare to dream for two in a row as they set their sights on even loftier ambitions.
