Livingston have this week announced that they are to launch an operating fund where fans and local businesses can donate money to help keep the club afloat during the suspension of the Scottish Premiership.
This has came as a result of the great loss in income that the club is suffering from not being able to play their remaining home fixtures this season, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Supporters are being asked to set up direct debits with a minimum of £20 a month, however fans will be rewarded for their support through the issuing of club shares to those who contribute financially.
Come June this year, share certificate will be given out to supporters based on how much they have given to help the club up until that point. Alternatively, hospitality spaces can also be claimed for the 2020/21 season.
This is a great touch as it ensures fans contributions are valued and not taken for granted. Also, increasing the number of supporter shareholders should also reinforce that bond between fan and club and help to encourage fan engagement with the club moving forward.
The SFSA urges residents of Livingston, supporters or not, to help save one of their communities most valuable assets, if they can afford to do so.
