BILLY BREMNER MEMORIAL JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN

New season, new referee?

Date: 31st July 2024

At the start of this calendar year, the SFSA launched a campaign to encourage our members to become referees.   For their own reasons, the SFA refused to support us. Even when we offered to pay for a number of people to take the training course, the Referee Associations were instructed not to get in touch with us.  No, we don’t understand this either, but undeterred we are not giving up and we hope that with a new Head of Refereeing (who won our Referee of the Year in the SFSA Fans’ Awards) in place he might back our efforts.  Throughout this season, we’ll continue to support our referees and seek to encourage our members to take the training course.   There is a shortage of referees in some parts of Scotland and the encouraging growth of the women’s game makes it even more important that we have more coming through the ranks.

To that end, if you want to become a referee, this is the place to start:   https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish-fa/referees/become-a-referee/
