At the SFSA, we recognise that fans will always keep an eye out on the progress of their local team regardless of how big they may be. With this in mind we felt it was only right to fully complete the East & West of Scotland tier systems, as well showcase the South of Scotland Football League.
East of Scotland 4th Tier (3rd Division)
Despite their only being 11 teams and no relegation there is still plenty to play for, with the top 3 teams earning the right for promotion to the 3rd tier (2nd division). With teams playing each other three times with 30 games in total this led to a tight scrap for that all important 3rd and last promotion place. Fauldhouse United 49 points would pip nearest challengers Hawick Royal Albert 46 & Stoneyburn 45 points.
Safely finishing in 2nd but still far clear of 1st was Linton Hotspur with 55 points, and Lochgelly Albert with a whopping 103 goals league goals cantered to the title with 70 points.
We found it difficult to nail down one star performer, preferring to give a duo mention to the strike partnership of Scott Russell & Keiran Boundy amassing a combined total of 42 goals for Lochgelly Albert.
South of Scotland Football League
In another small league, with 12 teams in total, clubs played each other twice battling it out for the title to earn the right to compete in the Lowland League Play Off. There is no relegation at the moment in the South of Scotland Football League.
Normally this sees the South of Scotland League Winners play in a round robin against the West and East of Scotland League champions ( though the club has to have a valid SFA licence to compete in the Lowland League Play Off).
Placing in the top 3 was Lochar Thistle with 52 points, Newton Stewart 50 points & Dalbeattie Star 46 points.
Avoiding relegation but having the tagline of the bottom 3 was Lochmaben with 12 points, St Cuthbert Wanderers 10 points & Wigtown & Bladnoch with a solidarity 1 point.
Our Star Performer was Lochar Thistle taking home the treble lifting the Alba & League Cup alongside their league title.
West of Scotland 4th & 5th tier ( 3rd & 4th division)
3rd Division
The 3rd division sees teams play each other twice culminating in a 30-game season for the 16 teams. 3 teams go up and 3 teams go down.
It was hotly contested at the top end of the table with only 2 points from 2nd to 4th. The unlucky ones were to be Greenock Juniors 60 points who were pipped by Threave Rovers 61 and Kilsyth Athletic 62 points. Johnstone based Thorn Athletic were crowned champions with 68 points.
At the bottom was Wishaw 14 points, Irvine Victoria 24 points and Vale of Leithen 24 points.
Our star performers were Paul Archibald Kilsyth Athletic & Ross Irving Threave Rovers with 27 league goals each.
4th Division
The league numbers and games played follow the same format as the 3rd division, however there is no relegations, but there are still 3 promotion spots.
West side of Glasgow outfit Knightswood lifted the league trophy with 76 points, with Port Glasgow Juniors 73 points and Kello Rovers 60 points completing the promotional trio.
Finishing at the unwanted end of the table was Saltcoats Victoria 27 points, Campbeltown Pupils 12 points and BSC Glasgow 3 points.
Our star performer was given to the league champions who had a remarkable turnaround in league fortunes, finishing with a 39 points increase from 9th to 1st from last season.
