A statement from the SFSA, following the recent announcement from the FM regarding an upcoming support package for spectator sports:
The Scottish Football Supporters Association is pleased to be engaging positively with the Scottish Government on the future of our game, not least as it faces the pandemic.
We are delighted that the Government will be announcing a support package for clubs. That is something we have urged. We will say more when details are released.
Assistance to smaller clubs who have been hardest hit is vital. We also need real change in the way the game is run, which should belong to fans and the community.
Public funding strengthens our case for a huge democratic shift in Scottish football.
For reference, Nicola Sturgeon’s comments on the subject via #FMQs can be found here:
I look forward to further information coming from @scotgov on financial support for spectator sports, following my question at #FMQs earlier today. As an avid football fan myself, I want to see smaller clubs thrive through this crisis, protecting their future. pic.twitter.com/NdAnFkJ63h
