Stonewalled in Scotland – few Rainbow laces on show

Despite the shocking Stonewall Scotland report that we highlighted last month, there seems to be little appetite for anybody in the game in Scotland grasping with this particular problem. We have been told that when the SPFL were approached to participate the charity were told to contact the clubs direct. We did so on behalf of the charity to several of the clubs we know well. Of course guess what they told us – they would happily participate; but this should be an activity orchestrated by the league.

Given that the BPL gave free advertising, had players wearing laces and captains wearing rainbow armbands for the day we can best describe the response from Scottish football at pathetic. This is a cause we at the SFSA will champion next year and we will report back to all our members on what clubs say.

Even with that amount of coverage in England it shows that there is much work to be done to eradicate deep rooted prejudice.
