The Scottish Football Supporters Association and University of Edinburgh

Over the past 8 years we have had the pleasure to welcome over 30 undergraduates from The University of Edinburgh’s Course on Sports Management to the SFSA   We have been delighted to help many of them start the journey into the world of professional sport and of course football. Being part of our Engine Room allows us not just to mentor the students but as a consequence to grow our operations by expanding our network and to grow our capacity. This is essential for us as we continue to try  to make the Scottish Football Supporters Association the best that we can be.

Unlike in Europe where the Football Supporters Europe ( FSE) are funded by UEFA and in England  where the Football Supporters Association ( FSA) are funded by the Premier League and the FA , we have no direct funding from football in Scotland. This often surprises people when they realise that in Scotland over 50% of the revenue that is generated by the game is from fans via the turnstiles. Here we are reliant on the dedication and resilience of our members, volunteers and sponsors .

The relationship with the University of Edinburgh has grown significantly over the years and we now also have volunteers from UWS and the Universities of Dundee and Stirling too.

Having a vibrant volunteer base who care about the game and  so many dedicated fans is something that we are very proud of.
