Westminster calls for football to get its house in order but in Scotland?
Here in Scotland we have the ongoing consultation over strict liability and of course the Offensive Behaviour at football matches on the agenda at Holyrood. However, at this stage there seems to be little appetite tell football in Scotland that it needs to get its house in order. There of course will be very few fans ( voters) in Scotland who believe that the football is better run in Scotland than in England. The SFA and the SPFL don’t want interference and have always claimed that FIFA would take a dim view on such involvement . Given what has happen in England it was interesting to note that the FA never hid or played the FIFA card – maybe because it knows it needs radical reform and of course it knows FIFA is not exactly a role model for good governance. It will be interesting to see if there is any knock effect here in Scotland.
