Last year, the SFSA published our Women in Football report, the first in our business of fans series. In recent weeks, work has been ongoing regarding the next report in the series: Youths in Football, with our survey now live.
The research intends to determine how youths consume SPFL football, before attempting to explain the trends that emerge.
It is hoped that the findings will be used to inform policy and improve the experience of youths at SPFL matches. This will help to secure the next generation of Scottish football supporters, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the beautiful game in our country.
The SFSA is receiving support from Dr. Joachim Lammert, founder and CEO of FansQ, The University of Edinburgh and BeGambleAware. In addition to this, partnerships have also been formed with total teamwear, Bala Sports and Unite the Union to provide prizes to incentivise participation.
The sample for the survey is children that play for a football team and are aged 12-18.
