Date: 5th October 2025

LESS THAN A WEEK TO GO
Next weekend, close to 100 walkers will talk streets of Glasgow, Cumbernauld, Falkirk, Stirling, Dunfermline and Edinburgh walking 150 miles for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation and the My Name5 Doddie Foundation in the Scottish March of the Day. The final preparations are underway. It’s building into quite an event that should go a long way to raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease in Scotland. Here is the latest news of what’s happening.
- All the core team received their personalised sweatshirts with name and numbers on. They will be the ones in red from Motherwell to Hamilton Accies and the in navy from then on
- The walk gets off to a flyer at Fir Park, Motherwell at 1.30pm on October 10. The Provost will be there to see us off and there will be a piper to give us a proper Scottish send off as we walk round the touchline. Massive thanks to Dawn Middleton for arranging this.
- Clyde FC is the next stop where Graeme Kelly has arranged for a bucket collection at this weekends game with East Kilbride, weather permitting.
- We are having a signed shirt auction after the event, and this week, we took delivery of our first auction item when Celtic FC sent us a signed shirt. Big thanks to Nina Gallacher for arranging this
- We should thanks Montrose FC too. Not only have they sponsored a stage, they have entered two teams of walkers to take part. These include a couple of members of their first team squad namely, Cammy Gill and Blair Lyons.
- We have had some great messages of support this week. These include videos from John McGinn, Brian Irvine, Barry Ferguson, Peter Grant and Scotland skipper Andy Robertson
- PFA Scotland’s Chris Higgins and Fraser Wishart both walking the first stage
