SFSA NEWS RELEASE
National Fans Organisation partners with Radical Weavers to develop a major exhibition as a celebration of the Tartan Army at the World Cup
DATE: 24/2/2026
The SFSA are delighted to announce a partnership with Radical Weavers – see www.radicalweavers.org who are being supported by the Scottish Football Museum in creating a fan driven World Cup exhibition that charts the rise of the Tartan Army through the eyes and ears of those who were at all the previous World Cup tournaments.
The Exhibition will run from 28th May and Scotland Football supporters are being asked to contribute by loaning materials to the exhibition as well as providing photographs and tales of being Tartan Army foot soldiers as they ventured around the globe.
Iain Emerson Founder of The Famous Tartan Army Magazine and a Board Member at the SFSA said, “ This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and to remember the many tales happy and sad across the history of the Tartan Army. We are thrilled to be involved in helping document this history and we look forward to working closely with the prestigious partners in this project”
Dr Mairi Breslin Director of the Radical Weavers social enterprise said, “I am thrilled to be announcing this exhibition that has, so far, been entirely self-funded. This is an opportunity to bring together the whole of Scotland to celebrate the Tartan Army, who have always done Scotland so proud overseas. We have had so many people volunteer their time to make this happen and have blown away by the excitement that the project has created and are delighted to be working with the SFSA, the Scottish Football Museum, friends from across the heritage sector and (we hope) a major national funder to bring it all together in time.
There is no doubt that The Tartan Army are indeed famous everywhere they go and we believe that their story is wedded into the social fabric of the nation. This exhibition really is by the fans for the fans and gives the whole nation the opportunity to celebrate our national obsession. We really look forward to collating and exhibiting as many journeys and stories of those trips as we can”
