Billy Bremner Campaign update October 2026
The campaign to fundraise to get a Billy Bremner statue in Raploch, where he was born, has been running for over two years. With an estimated cost of around £90,000 it has been a huge challenge for the various Leeds United and Scotland supporter groups to get close to the target.
Proposals were sent to Leeds United and to the SFA to see if maybe a £1 on the ticket price of a future game or a season ticket book would be considered , giving fans the option to opt out . We thought that this would be a simple and effective way to make this happen quickly. We are disappointed that neither the Club or the SFA have responded to our request so far.
Fundraising through the Leeds United supporters groups with a dinner, Billy Badges and other activity such as an auction has raised £10,000. We hope to have some similar activity in Scotland in the coming months as well as a continuation of our work in Leeds.. We have excellent PR that hopefully we can build on https://www.leedsunited.com/en/news/billy-bremner-honoured-in-his-home-city We have also had positive mentions at both Westminster and Holyrood too.
Having spoken to Stirling Council , Active Stirling and Stirling Albion there was a belief that there was scope to introduce a walking /cycling tour around all the focal points of football history as well as finding a way to celebrate the icons of the game who came from the Stirling area, but had not necessarily played for Stirling Albion. The Billy Bremner statue will be the focal point of this activity and we hope this additional but sperate activity in an around the Leeds area will enhance the campaign activities too. The team remain fully committed to the project and wish to thank all the contributors so far .www.stirlinghalloffame.co.uk
