Book Review: Volume 5 of Scottish League & Cup Football, 1904/05, 1905/06 and 1906/07

Jorn Inge Hestnes has once again compiled 382 pages of facts, figures and illustrations covering all aspects of senior League and Cup football in Scotland over these three seasons.    There is a day-by-day diary of all senior matches played in Scotland, including local Leagues and cup ties, accompanied by stories and illustrations from contemporary newspapers and magazines.   This is followed by every club’s complete record for the season, with line-ups and summary statistics including the Northern League, East Fife, Alloa Athletic and Stenhousemuir.  It is once again a monumental piece of football research undertaken by the compiler.  Volumes 1 to 4, each covering three seasons from the start of the Scottish Football League in 1890, remain available to purchase, as does Volume 10, in while Jorn was joined by Alan Brown in covering 1919/20, 1920/21 and 1921/22.  More details of these are on www.scotlandsfootballers.com     All are available on Amazon and eBay, but are cheaper if bought direct from SFH (email here for details)
