Community Ownership in view

Our work in this field continues  as we build on the experiences gained since 2010. Scotland remains a positive beacon for those fans who believe in the model and the perfect example of this was the creation of the Fans Bank that we created and pushed through Holyrood several years ago. The first successful uptake of the scheme was at Falkirk where the then First Minister Humza Yousef was on hand to give a loan to the Falkirk fans to buy a significant share in the club. We have been delighted to continue to work with other fans groups who have looked to explore this funding stream. Look our for more details of these activities in the weeks and months ahead.

What we know is that Community Ownership is not for every club and that there is no set model that works for every club. The successful launch of OUR GAME OUR CLUBS book has led to a far wider debate about the subject and led to our Co Founder being involved in many further discussions debates on the subject matter.  From January 2027 working with the Business School at Dundee University there will be a significant amount of resources developing further research on the subject matter. We will be hoping to speak to all the clubs in Scotland currently in Community Ownership and on the pathway to it in the coming months to allow us to frame the research with them in mind.

This comes at a time when one of the only two senior clubs in Community Ownership in England the phoenix club AFC Wimbledon  may well be selling out https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/afc-wimbledon-87-million-5001-control-most-important-vote-michaels-wuome/

Closer to home we have seen , Stirling Albion FC the first senior club in Scotland to go into community ownership be subject of a  take over from a Canadian Investor. Look out for more from us in the next few weeks!
