IT TAKES TWO, ARMADALE THISTLE Vs Dundonald Bluebell and Vs Stonehaven by Homes of Football
This had not been done since it was done by Celtic in 1916. 1st World War-time.
Volunteer Park here at Armadale is called such because it has been where locals ‘joined up’. Of course, they might never have been seen again alive once departing these shores. The joyous cause for doing TWO GAMES IN ONE DAY in 2026, fielding much the same team afternoon then evening, is because of fixture congestion…and Thistle’s determination “we will show you”. The SFA might get more requests to play twice!
The captain is the goalie and his Mum runs the hospitality as part of her own team. Everyone pulls their weight.
The crowds for each game are double and quadruple in size from the usual. Daytime sunshine and warmth turning to floodlights and cold and increased ‘atmosphere’ : a big night out in Armadale .
The ‘boys are between matches having WON the first game 4-0.
