SFSA announce support for environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful annual Spring Clean Scotland campaign running between March 13th – April 24th, 2026.
Date: 12th March 2026
Scotland’s national independent supporters’ organisation, the Scottish Football Supporters Association (SFSA), today announces its support for environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful’s (KSB) #SpringCleanScotland campaign.
The partnership links Scotland’s national fans organisation with a very important and relevant organisation who are heavily involved with local communities in Scotland to inspire changes in behaviour to improve our environment. The organisation provides training on becoming more environmentally sustainable whilst also being involved in educating the younger generation in schools to make Scotland’s future greener.
A feature that matches the SFSA with KSB is that volunteers are at the heart of operations. KSB want to get as many volunteers involved as possible for their Spring Clean campaign. In last year’s campaign, they managed to get 34,027 volunteers involved who helped collect 50,176 bags of litter, which is the equivalent of 331 tonnes. They also held events over all 32 local authorities whilst being in collaboration with 109 schools. Within schools and other youth groups, they held a tournament to see who could collect the most litter with the winner’s receiving awards.
Owen Ward of the SFSA, said:
“This organisation is a stepping stone to getting football fans involved with sustainability. Being able to educate and raise awareness for sustainability is vital as this issue is very relevant in today’s world. Getting football fans involved and educated as soon as possible can put Scotland on track in becoming the most sustainable football fans in the world. On top of this, with more people in Scotland aware of litter picking and becoming more sustainable, Scotland can be closer to achieving their Net Zero goal by 2045.”
Heather Ashworth, Campaigns and Interventions Officer at Keep Scotland Beautiful, added: “I’m delighted to see this year’s Spring Clean Scotland campaign being supported so strongly by the SFSA. Spring Clean is about getting as many people as possible involved in litter picking and being able to reach more football fans with the SFSA’s help will be a huge step in tackling the litter that is polluting our environment.
“We know how passionate football fans are about their teams and if they can replicate that passion when it comes to litter picking then we’re scoring a huge goal for the environment.”
Further details on the Spring Clean campaign will be available on KSB’s website www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org. For more news on our support, make sure to keep up to date with our website www.scottishfsa.org.
