Here at the SFSA have a saying, ” it all comes down to governance” when we are talking about the ills of the game and the lack of effective scrutiny. We have all seen the mess that has emerged at FIFA and the latest move has seen some of the top leagues in Europe call for reform.
The Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A release a statement demanding for FIFA reform, calling “for a new governance structure for our sport’s global governing body that is transparent, objective, proportionate and inclusive, built on three core commitments.”
We note with interest silence from the SPFL who as we know are against any sort of meaningful reform of our game. We would reiterate that here in Scotland football should ALSO be “transparent, objective, proportionate and inclusive, built on three core commitments.” No doubt by us repeating this publicly one again the SPFL will continue to refuse to engage with the National Fans body.
