SFSA STATEMENT: UK Government Consultation for ‘Taking Passengers to Sporting Events In Scotland’

SFSA HAVE CONCERNS OVER GOVERNMENT CONSULTATION

 

• ​SFSA will seek to find out who called for this consultation
• SFSA will ask fans for views and opinions this weekend
• SFSA committed to producing a robust response to the consultation and make it freely available to all fans

The Scottish Football Supporters Association have been contacted by the UK Government regarding the series of proposed new regulations regarding travel to and from Football matches.

We do believe that as a section of society Football Supporters are often targeted in an unfair manner across a range of situations that often ignores both the economic and social value that we as fans bring to Scotland.

We will of course ask the UK Government as to who has actually asked for this consultation in the first place given that it has appeared without any previous debate.

It is fair to say that we have concerns around these proposals. What we will do is reflect on the proposals and of course do as we were asked and open up the debate to our members with a consultation this coming weekend.

On completion of the input from Scottish Football Supporters we will then submit the response to the UK Government as well as publishing it on our website.
