The SFSA are delighted to announce the launch of “Picture & Poems – The Scotland Dream”, a nationwide World Cup-themed activity for primary schools across Scotland. The initiative is designed to give young people a chance to be part of Scotland’s World Cup journey in a simple, creative and memorable way.

Aimed mainly at Primary 5–7 pupils, the activity will run from 23 March 2026 until 1 May 2026. Schools are invited to encourage pupils to submit either a picture or a piece of writing, including poems (or some prose), inspired by Scotland and the World Cup.

To keep the process simple and under school control, entries should be collected and submitted centrally by the school. Schools are asked to send clear scans or photographs of pupils’ work to info@scottishfsa.org, together with the pupil’s name or initials, age or year group, school name, and a contact teacher name and email address. The intention is to make participation straightforward and low-burden for school staff.

The top 20 entries will be selected for inclusion in a special booklet, which will be presented to the Scotland players ahead of the 2026 World Cup. From the full collection, two overall winning entries will each receive a signed Scotland shirt. In addition, each winning child’s school will receive a special World Cup Day, featuring a visit from a former Scotland player, a school assembly Q&A, and a World Cup-themed coaching session for the winning class or school team.

John MacLean, CEO of the SFSA, said: “It is fantastic to see schools across Scotland supporting the national team in such a creative and positive way. The World Cup is a special moment for the whole country, and this activity gives children the chance to feel involved, use their imagination and share their excitement. We hope pupils and schools enjoy taking part and this is great way to send their best wishes to the Scotland team .”
